.: Easter 09
Here are some pictures from Alexia's first Easter. She loved her presents from the grandparents and the easter bunny. And she enjoyed her first easter egg hunt. Well, ok she just ate grass and i had to put her on my shoulders, but she still had fun.

.: Ground Zero
I didn’t post these pictures originally, but decided to now after a lot of people were asking if we visited Ground Zero when we went to NY. It was surreal. NY is VERY loud, but as you start going toward GZ it gets very quiet. Even 6 years later, it’s still a big hole. Very humbling experience.

Check out the Pictures

.: Blood and Ink
There have been many great combinations in the history of civilization. For example, peanut butter and jelly or the combo of peanut butter and chocolate. But these two examples pale in comparison to the Blood and Ink convention this weekend. The combo of Tattoos and Horror Movie actors!

Now everyone knows I collect a lot of stuff: Pez, comics, shot glasses, dvd’s and horror movie figures. So here was a chance to combine two of my loves. 1) To meet the men responsible for some of the greatest horror movies of the past 30 years 2) To get my stuff autographed!

My favorite horror movie of all time is Hellraiser. Yes I’m fully aware that the 7 sequels aren’t that good, but the original novel and movie were amazing and very imaginative. Clive Barker remains my favorite horror author. So when I heard that Doug Bradley, the man behind the mask of Pinhead, was going to be at the convention, I was sold! He rarely makes U.S. appearances. I have all of the Hellraiser figures and the limited edition Hellraiser dvd tin . . .which is now autographed!

My second favorite horror movie of all time is Phantasm. (Again, a very imaginative story.) The main good guy, Reggie, was at the con and was unbelievably nice. He talked to us for a long time about the Phantasm movies and Bubba HoTep.

The most frightening experience was being choked by Kane Hodder (i.e. Jason from the Friday the 13th movies). I think Mr. Hodder thought I was a little taller. Maybe it was the black t-shirt. If you look at this photo it would seem that we’re about the same size. Kane is around 6’ 4” and pure muscle. So when he stood up to make the picture he grabbed my neck like he was choking me. SO there I was standing on my tippy toes and he kept raising me up higher. Let me say that again, this guy was picking me up by my neck!!! It was one of the greatest moments of my life (sniff sniff).

There have been VERY few “good” horror movies over the past 10 years. No, Scream is not a good horror movie. It’s a good movie, but you can’t compare Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer to the Exorcist, it doesn't hold a candle. Over the past couple of years, a lot of good horror movies started popping up: The Ring, The Grudge, The Eye. But not a lot of good American horror flicks. Then the Devil’s Rejects pops up. This is not only one of my favorite horror movies of all time, but one of my favorite movies of all time period. It’s a horrific movie. This is not a “cheer for the bad guy” type of movie. It’s brutal. It’s exactly what a horror movie should be! This is a movie that will stay with you after the credits roll. Anyway, I was extremely excited that a large part of the cast was going to be at the con. So I brought my Devil’s Reject’s poster and had them all to sign it. The main villain, played by Bill Moseley, looks COMPLETELY different than his movie character. Sid Haig looked exactly like his character! Ken Foree was another star of the movie, but is better known as the lead in the classic Dawn of the Dead. The same is true for Michael Berryman, he starred in the cult classic, The Hills Have Eyes that was recently remade.

And last but not least Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Yeah, he looks like a madman doesn’t he!? The weird thing about him? He’s not a fan of horror movies! Funny stuff.

All in all a great day. I was in geek heaven surrounded by horror legends and tattoo’s galore!

.: Snow Day
It finally snowed! Unfortunately it wasn’t enough for a snow man, just enough to make the roads bad for a day and enough to make some pictures and have a good snow ball fight. Fast forward a week and its back up to 70 degrees. What a weird winter!

.: Poker Night
Ahh, Texas Hold ‘Em. The poker craze is sweeping the nation and we love it. We’ve been playing now for about 2 years, so we host the 1st Griff and Mary Alice Poker Party. We usually have a poker party at someone’s house every 3 or 4 months. Dave had the last we so we host this one. We had a full house with 2 poker tables going (btw Big Lots poker tables RULE. Anyway, I was eliminated early in the night, but Mary Alice ended up winning the tournament and Baker got 2nd place. Of course the highlight of the night I can share on a public forum to protect the guilty. But let’s just say that the next poker party I’m going to be wearing a new Dave Bobrow t-shirt hehe

.: BERC Reunion
Usually I dread reunions, but when I heard my former employer the BERC (Business and Economics Research Center) was having a reunion, I was actually excited (Click here for pictures). The BERC, for those who don’t remember, is the place I worked during my college and grad school days. I’m rarely sentimental, but I have to say that working there was one of the most positive experiences of my life. First of all, it was a great place to work during college and the only place that allowed me to work until 4:00 a.m. and let me sleep until noon hehe. It took me 3 years to get used to a “normal” schedule once I entered the “real” world. Unfortunately I’m not joking and I still pull some all-nighters and late late hours for whomever I’m working for.

Gini Poole, the secretary when I first started, was the main person who talked me into getting my Masters Degree. That was one of the best decisions I made because it meant a huge increase in salary now and a lifetime of friends I met during those days. Allison, Baker, and I have so many stories I could probably start another website discussing them! Actually that’s a great idea!

Allison and Stephen came up and hung out with us at the house the day before and we enjoyed some good sake at the hibachi grill. Man that was terrible stuff! I got to see a lot of professors and friends I haven’t seen in years! There were several people MIA like Irena and Erica, but maybe we'll see them some other time.

Thanks to Dr. Kyle and Kitty for putting it together. It was a lot of fun to reminisce about the good old days. Maybe I’ll go back and teach one day! How scary would that be!

CONGRATULATIONS are in order!!! Recently, my Aunt Alice married Loyd! Here are the pics from their reception. Grandma started planning their reception even before they had set a date for the wedding! I guess that means she kind of likes Loyd! Haha. He definitely keeps everyone laughing! The reception turned out beautifully. Everyone had a really good time. Welcome to the family Loyd! :)

.: Huge Photo Album Update
Wow, this is one huge photo album update. Read the post above for the reason. Anyway, enough slacking; on with the show.

Family Gatherings and Birthday’s

Click here for some pics of Mom and Grampy's Birthdays, Easter and Mother's Day. This was around the time MA still had mono so i wasn't in typical "100 pics an hour" mode hehe.

We went to a Sound's game for Mom's birthday, which was the first time I had been there in a LOOONG time. I think 90% of Westmoreland was there!

Smokey Mountains

Her are some pics from a trip we took up to the Smokey Mountains a couple of months ago. This was also the weekend Chris got married in Knoxville. First off, the hotel we stayed at messed up our reservations. So we got the big suite for $30 a night! Fireplace, hot tub, the works. Not bad for the cost of dining out for a night! We did the usual antique mall shopping and then we went to the Knoxville Zoo. No offense to the people of Knoxville, but I had NO idea the number of rednecks in that town! Oh my GOD it was horrible. The Zoo test my patience to the nth degree. Kids running wilding, throwing things at animals, green tattoo's on 15 year olds, and my personal favorite the parents who got there GO-CARTS out in the PARKING LOT. If anyone needed proof that evolution is real, go to the Knoxville Zoo to see how we used to be 1000 years ago. Oh and I really love the parents with mullets that feel the need to take there shirt off in public. Guys, if you're going to take you're shirt off in public, TRIM. Yeah, i know that sounds gay, but men's backs were not meant to look like Chia Pets! Anyway, other than the zoo we had a blast and was a nice little weekend getaway.

TNA-Wrestling 2 Year Anniversary Party

DEAR GOD!!! Two years of TNA Rasslin'. Like last year, we went to the PPV and post party where we got to meet the TNA Superstars for autographs and pictures. Jerry Lynn made the coolest pics out of the bunch. If you like wrestling, or feeling depressed and want to feel good about yourself, go down the Nashville Fairgrounds on Wednesday night and check it out!

Wrestlemania XX Party

Featuring the now classic Emmitt watches Wrestlemania for the first time pictures!

PEZ and Other Hobbies

By special request, some pictures of my pez collection and my latest collectibles Hellraiser figures!
